For FMS this is where it all started, supplying machinery,
specialised parts and attachments to foundation garment manufacturers.
Single Needle machines
Essentially, any basic
single needle industrial machine that excepts Singer style fittings will be
able to cope with most applications within the Bra factory.
The Brother
B755 range of machines have proven to be more than adequate, in either the
standard format or as an underbed thread trimmer. |

Zig Zags
Historically Singer has always led the market, first with the 107w and
then the 457 range of machines, and with the basic machine, this still
continues today. The latest machine, produced in China under the
directorship of the original Singer Japanese production team, still leads the
field in terms of quality and now, due to reduced production costs, price.
Moving forward, electronics have begun to make in roads into the
functionality of the zig zag machine. The Brother B855 / B856 is our preferred
machine, Brothers reliable electronics and its ability to use Singer fittings
make this machine a winner.
The ability to change from plain Zig Zag to
3 step Zig Zag or scallops and back again at the touch of a button has given
the Bra manufacturer the versatility to change to a particular stitch type as
fashion demands, without the massive capitol outlay relating to the purchase of
individual "stitch specific" machines. But be warned, if high speed /
high production rates are your goal, these machines still lag behind their high
speed mechanical counterparts.

Twin Needle
The
twin needle machine for the Bra manufacturer is probably now best represented
by machines from the Brother range. Again this is largely due to Brothers
understanding that any machine produced must accept the Singer fittings, ie
Feed, Throat plate and Presser feet, that are used world wide. The purchase of
any other machine that cannot use these fittings will result in increased costs
and a lack of choice and versatility when setting up a machine for a particular
application.
Foundationwear can supply the base machine or a machine
configured with the appropriate fittings, folders and guides for applications
such as cup wire binding, cup seam taping, etc.
Bar Tacks
Electronics has changed the bar
tack beyond recognition. Now at the press of a button it can be a 9 stitch
bow tacking machine, a 28, 36 or 42 stitch bar tack, configered to sew up or
across the arm, or even used for sewing pattern tacks such as triangles,
circles, hearts etc. Foundationwear sell and support the Brother range of
machines. Using the Brother BAS-300 programming software we can liaise
with customers to design the most efficient stitching patterns for the
application, and then have our engineering dept. produce clamps to suit.

Specialised parts for
bra manufacture
With our long association with the
foundation garment trade we have learned that one of the most important
considerations for bra manufacturer's is the way in which the sewing machines
are configured. This involves selecting the correct fittings for the
application. The fittings consist of the Presser foot, the Throat plate
and the Feed dog, and whether it be for attaching elastic on a three stitch zig
zag, or applying wire or bone casing on a twin needle, the selection made can
make vast differences to efficiency, production and long term costs.
Historically, the Singer company provided the largest range of fittings
for use with their own machines. In recent years most of the Japanese
machine manufacturers adopted the use of these parts, which has helped to
perpetuate their use and make most of them commonly available and at reasonable
cost.
Foundationwear stock many of these parts, and also a large
range of fittings that have been manufactured using parts from the past as a
model. We also carry stocks of parts that have been designed in house to
solve a specific problems. To view a small range of these parts please
